Admission at the University of Padova

The admission procedures at the University of Padova vary according to the status of the applicant (eg nationality, country of residence, type of qualification). The University supports students in choosing the right field of study for them with a series of introductory and orientation meetings organized by the trained staff of the university. These meetings take place throughout the academic year.

The first step of the admission process is to fill out an admission form. Such application forms contain all the information required for a prospective student: the number of available places, deadlines and admission requirements. The name and the way the programmes are divided, differ slightly from other international universities. Thus, the University of Padova offers the following courses of study to international students:

  • First-Cycle Degree Laurea - BACHELOR [3 years]
  • Single-Cycle Degree Laurea Magistrale of Cyclo Unico [duration 5 or 6 years] - designed for faculties in the following fields of study: Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, Education
  • Second-Cycle Degree Laurea Magistrale - MASTER [lasting at least one year]

Annually, the university allocates approximately 3,000 places to international students for the following courses held in English:

Accommodation costs

The University of Padova offers accommodation for approximately 1,600 international students in housing located in the city center, in proximity to the university.

Transport costs

A bus / tram ticket [valid for 75 minutes] costs ≈ € 1.30. If you want, you can opt for a weekly subscription of € 12 or an annual one of € 380.

Study fees

Study fees for the academic year 2019-2020 have not yet been published on the university's website, but for an idea of their cost, the university has published study fees charged for 2018-2019:

Distance learning: ≈ € 1,858 / year

Education: ≈ € 2,919 / year

Payment of study fees

In the first stage, students have to pay ≈ € 185 if they are enrolled in the first year of Bachelor/Master and ≈ € 565 if they have completed their first year of study.

This first charge must be paid:

  • at the time of enrollment [for students in the first year of Bachelor]
  • from 9 July to 30 September [by students who have completed their first year of study]
  • starting with July 9th until the deadline specified by the faculty [for students enrolled in the first year of the Master]

In order to be admitted to the University of Padova, it is mandatory to pay a fee of € 185 at the time of enrollment.

In the next two stages, the amount of study fees can be reduced considerably with social or merit scholarships granted by the University. The scholarships are awarded taking into account the budget allocated by the funding institutions (Government, Regional Authorities), the number of students, the results of the year of study and the current financial situation of the students.

The second toll is to be paid by February 15 of the next calendar year, and the third to May 15 of the next calendar year.
